Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy centers on the belief that language learning should be interactive, student-paced, and confidence-building, rather than a one-size-fits-all lecture approach. I design every lesson plan around the individual learner: their current level, their goals, and the pace at which they genuinely absorb material, rather than forcing a rigid syllabus that may not be a good fit. I lean heavily on real-life examples, visual aids, and step-by-step scaffolding to make abstract math rules, grammar rules or unfamiliar vocabulary feel intuitive rather than intimidating. Personality and rapport matter as much as method. I bring a talkative, affable, and energetic presence into every session because I've found that students open up and speak more when the classroom feels like a relaxed conversation rather than a formal test. This is especially important in speaking practice, where fear of making mistakes is often the biggest barrier to fluency. My job, as I see it, is to lower that barrier. At the same time, I hold myself to a high standard of preparation, punctuality, and responsibility. I show up ready with a structured lesson plan. Still, I stay flexible enough to adapt in real time if a student needs more repetition, a different explanation, or simply more encouragement that day. Finally, I see myself as a continuous learner alongside my students. I regularly refine my methods based on what actually works in the room (or on the screen), rather than sticking to a single fixed technique.
